Jazz Buchanan is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Elgol, on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
Inspired by Scottish landscapes, sunsets and animals (highland cows in particular), she provides illustrations, caricatures, graphic design and merchandise which is stocked in various shops on and around the Isle of Skye.
With over 20 years of experience, starting at a young age with caricatures of school teachers to working in marketing and sales, she is now running her own small business from home: Designing and creating a wide range of creative gifts and greeting cards.

Recently, I was asked if I use AI for my illustrations and designs. I’d never had that question before! But, in this day and age it makes sense, with AI being used everywhere - In good and not so good ways... Which is a whole other discussion I won’t be getting into. Anyway, as you can see, I do not use any AI in my drawings. ✏️
Although I use a very modern technique, which allows me to make more adaptable designs, every stroke, colour and shadow is applied by my own hand 🙂
In a lot of cases, my illustrations still start on paper: A quick sketch which I then transfer into my ipad and is then drawn out digitally. This allows me to work anywhere, which is especially important being a busy working mum! 😆
